Lyrically: The message primarily revolves around a character who battles their doubts, fears, and insecurities to reach the place that is promised to them. It's the story of a person who charges forward without concern for those trying to slow them down in the pursuit of their dream. Perseverance and determination are once again highlighted in this text, with a strong emphasis on self-confidence and faith in one's own abilities.
Musically: It's hard to believe that the music of "Where I Belong" was written about fifteen years ago. Of course, we reworked certain passages when we pulled it out of the vault, but the essence remained the same! It's a very brutal piece, arguably the most aggressive on the album! There are plenty of blast beats, sometimes straightforward and punchy guitar riffs, but also a melancholic chorus. Throughout the piece, the atmosphere is electrifying, culminating in a conclusion that reminds me a bit of "Summer Dying Fast" by Cradle of Filth. However, Johnny concludes the piece with an epic solo and a magical touch of rock emotion that is uniquely his own!
lyrics
This ain’t the first battle you wage, I feel
More often than not, you won them, it shows
Most of your rivals have fallen under your blows
But this time, you’re fighting against me
And I’ll never give in to your ordeals
I will charge in straight
No matter my enemy
You can always try to move around my weight
I will go right ahead
You can try to kill me
But mark my words I won't wait to be dead
Before I am where I belong
Where I belong
Everywhere I see, piled up bodies on the trail
Uncertainty has made them fail
You ruined their lives but you won't make mine Hell
From all of us, I have the guts to tell you that I will prevail
Frozen by their losses, the wounded yelled to me
’’You will be annihilated, you better turn away’’
So I’ve heard that, you don’t give access
To this state of happiness
This is the belief of the fearful
Fuck'em all!
Nobody's gonna make me fall
(solo Willy)
Skepticism is related to our past
The more we doubt the less we act
Present becomes past and this is at last
The force that will have the greatest impact on my future
The greatest impact on my future
From now on I’ll follow my heart
And won't let myself be slowed by hesitation
The sacred fire will light my way out
That will lead me to my destination
Without a shadow of a doubt
I got all I need, faith of steel
To access the land of the leal
Don’t get me wrong
Soon I will be right where I belong
Don’t get me wrong
I will stay strong
And soon be right where I belong
(solo Johnny)
